Bubbling Up: Discovery

Discovery is a two piece group consisting of Rostam Batmanglij from Vampire Weekend (More about them later..trust) and Wes Miles. The two formed Discovery, an electro RnB outfit that released their first single through UK label XL Recordings. One song that pops off the album is "So Insane" and it follows its namesake with a sick tempo change that is super sexy. Check out this video an artist made for the song.

The Noisettes

I cannot believe that I haven't posted about The Noisettes! They are a slick trio from the UK that combine 60's girl group sounds with the awesome backing of a rock band. Try them out, you might like them. They released their latest album Wild Young Hearts in 2009 which promptly went gold. Below is the video for their third single from the album "Never Forget You."

K'Jon Brings 90s RnB Back With "On The Ocean"

K'Jon is a recent addition to Universal Republic's repertoire and brings the smooth stylings of 90's greats like Toni Braxton and Keith Sweat. If you're like me, you have a soft spot for slow RNB jams and "On The Ocean" has a message.

The track has reached the top spot on Urban AC Radio. His new album, I GET AROUND, is set to drop on August 4th this year. Enjoy some smooth rnb to get you through the week.

Britney's Version of Telephone Leaked

So apparently the blogosphere is a buzz with the leaked demo Britney Spears did of Lady Gaga's mess known as "Telephone." Check out the auto-tuned to death track below. Honestly, I wonder how it would have sounded once it went through the producers hands and onto the radio waves. It can't be worse than the one that's played constantly right now AND the video would have been hot. Britney may not be a great singer, but she knows how to turn out a damn good music video.

Janelle Monáe - Tightrope

Janelle Monáe is the biggest and brightest breath of fresh air to come into the stagnant music scene in the past few years. Her first album in 2007, Metropolis Suite I of IV: The Chase was a mixture of James Brown soul and futuristic sounds tied together with her sweet and endearing vocal ability. She is gearing up to release her newest album The ArchAndroid (Suites II and III of IV) in May and it should be a great record. Check out the trailer and her breakthrough video for "Many Moons" below.

Bubbling Up: Tortured Soul

This Brooklyn trio combines House music with Jazz sensibilities to bring a new and pretty awesome sound to their new album "Did You Miss Me." They sound like a cross between Amy Winehouse (a little), Jamiroquai (a lot), and Armand Van Helden (for lack of a better reference). These guys seem ready for mainstream success so catch them before they blow up!
